Or she is in quite a panic as she has not decided yet which perfume to wear.

Some useful tips to consider:

Notes - according to 'My Wedding Day Only'

Bridal perfumes tend to fall into four main types – floral, fresh, woody or oriental.

Floral scents, such as those containing jasmine, rose or white flower fragrances, are very popular with brides, especially as they can often match the scent of the flowers used in wedding bouquets and flower arrangements.

Fresh scents, such as those containing notes such as citrus, green leaves, light fruits, sage or ocean inspired fragrance, have a clean, pure and crisp scent and are often popular with brides wanting a contemporary and light scent.

Woody scents are those which contain notes of musk, spicy woods and deep, rich citrus scents and can be popular with brides at winter weddings.

Oriental scents often have base notes of spiciness, amber, vanilla or wood and are popular with brides that want a heady scent that will get them noticed.

The Decision
If you have a perfume that you absolutely love wear it. Ensure he likes it too.If your family wish to spoil you to a perfume ask them politely if you can choose it. It is a very sensitive time and you do not want to offend. It is worse if you receive a perfume that you do not like and that you in the end decide that you don’t want to wear it. Be honest and make the most of choosing THE one. Avoid surprises. If you would like to try a new perfume ensure that you start experimenting at least a month before. Make a perfume testing date with yourself and your husband to be.You would probably want a different perfume for your honeymoon. A more sensual and romantic scent with ingredients of musk, woods and resins.Consider the time of the year. In summer it is wonderful to wear fresh floral perfumes and in winter warmer orientals. Avoid having your bridesmaids wear perfumes that will draw more attention to themselves. Communicate about this upfront and agree what will work for the special occasion.

Application
Layering is beautiful, starting with bath oils, body creams and then the perfume.Apply on your pulse points, for example your cleavage, back of the neck and your nape.Perfume rises so applying the perfume on your calves or the back of your knees allows for an upward flow.Ensure that you have your perfume with you to re-apply during the day. The best is to use the Flo Refillable Perfume Atomizer. Spray your perfume into the atomizer, fuss free and convenient!Applying your perfume in the palm of your hands will guarantee a romantic affect.

The memories associated with scent are very powerful so ensure that this is a lasting and positive choice!

Written by: Diana Rankin

[Source:Perfumepower.co.za]

View the original article here
Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-721287517165474352013-02-14T05:05:00.000-08:002013-02-14T05:05:00.753-08:00Perfume Notes for Valentines: Myrrh and Musk

Valentines Perfume Notes

Myrrh

Myrrh is a gum resin that is obtained from the Commiphora myrrha
trees native to Yemen and Somalia. Its scent is often described as being exotic. It is not an easy scent to work with so needs to be in the hands of a seasoned perfumer, to avoid overpowering a perfume. A perfumer, Calice Becker once said 'that myrrh is to a perfumer like butter is to a chef, it enriches the flavour!' Myrrh is described as being haunting and can be more tender or heavy in perfumes. Estee Lauder Beautiful is known to have a dash of Myrrh in it.
Musk

In today’s perfumery there are very few perfumes that do not contain musk. It is the intensity that varies. A perfume without musk is often considered as incomplete. Philip Kraft notes in his great overview of musks, “the more one studies its character [that of natural musk tincture], the more contrasting, vibrant and oscillating it becomes: repulsive–attractive, chemical–warm, sweaty–balmy, acrid–waxy, earthy–powdery, fatty–chocolate-like, pungent–leathery, resinous–spicy, fig-like, dry, nutty and woody, to give just some impressions” (144). The abstraction of these complex impressions into “warm, sweet, powdery and extremely sensual” is what can be understood whenever “musky” tonality is mentioned.

Musk is no longer obtained from the musk deer. The bans brought the rise of chemical based musk formulations which were cheaper and more ethical. The variations are astounding. Ambrette seed oil, galbanum oil and angelica root oils allow for the isolation of elements that have a musky character. In fine fragrances, compositions usually include a cocktail of different musks due to the fact that anosmia (inability to smell) musks are extremely widespread. Beta-ionones (chemical components) in the musk cause ‘short circuiting’. I found this astounding!

Perfume is so often associated with romance. I hope that you will be romanced with a beautiful bottle of perfume this Valentine's Day! To spoil your loved one Perfume Power has the following perfumes in the Ajmal Range: Entice, Sacred Love, Ignite, Yearn, Lure and much more. For women and men.
After 279 trial versions, an ultra - feminine, flowery - woody composition, called Elie Saab was selected, signed by the perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. The perfume opens with notes of orange blossom.

Perfume Brings Back Memories

You may have thought, wow this scent reminds me of university, a holiday, a parent, a boyfriend, a visit to the hospital or maybe your wedding day!

There is a very logical explanation for why this link is so powerful. Our olfactory (smell) receptors are directly connected to the limbic system of the brain, thought to be the memory and emotional perception centre. It's the emotion that we recall first, not necessarily the circumstance. Very often we can't put a name to these odours yet they have a strong emotive association even if they can't be specifically identified.

I have for example had two responses regarding perfume and marital relationships. A women refuses and can’t tolerate wearing a perfume her ex-husband gave her because the emotions are too painful to bear. Alternatively a woman only wears the perfume that her husband gave her on her wedding day because she treasures the positive feelings and emotions that were experienced on “their special day”.

Interestingly 67% of women wear the same perfume that they wore on their wedding day. This is good news!

These sayings are also food for thought:
Smell of deathSmell of fearSmell of troubleSmell the roses
To elaborate on the power of our sense of smell, people recall smells with 65% accuracy after a year, while the visual recall of photos sinks to about 50% after only three months.

Which perfumes have provided you with lasting and positive memories and why?

(Cologne is an instant charmer. It says, "I have style and the confidence you are looking for in a man." Studies show that men who wear cologne not only get the girl, but they get the salary increase. The following article is written for real men. If you know of any real men who are struggling with this issue or would like a refresher course on how to buy a fragrance that is perfect for them, please forward this article on to them. They will thank you for it.)

O.k., I know, buying cologne is the furthest thing from your mind right now. You've dismissed wearing anything beyond a drugstore aftershave (if you put on any scent at all). Buying aftershave is quick and dirty. You walk over to the drugstore aisle labelled "personal hygiene", zoom in on a forest green or brown bottle, walk up to the cashier, and leave with a bag that looks as if it's holding something any real man uses (razors, condoms, gum). After all, walking into a department store's fragrance section is about as manly as walking into a flower shop to buy a bouquet for your man-pad. Oh, you may be cute, but you are so naive.

Drugstore aftershave is fine. It does the trick, making you smell nice. But do you really love it? Does it really suit your personality and the way you want to be viewed by others, including women? Is it getting you what you really want ... an ambush by Ms. Gorgeous?

Cologne, if you pick the right one, says a lot about you when you enter a room. It instantly charms. It makes you stand out from the rest of the crowd. Nothing is as sexy, confident, and alluring as a man who wears fragrance. It instantly reveals that he takes care of himself; pays attention to style; and is a gentleman (even if in a bad-boy way). So where to start? If you don't know anything about what makes a super smelling cologne that women will love, how do you know which one will suit you?

Easy. Most high-end colognes are made with oils from real ingredients -- real spices, real fruits, real flowers. So think about scents in real life that make you want to sniff them again. Do you love the way a mandarin smells when you peel it? Find a scent with mandarin oil in it. Do you love anything made with fresh basil? Go for one with basil. Does cinnamon make your mouth water? Great. It makes women's mouth water too, so go for a cologne that has cinnamon as an ingredient.

What are your favorite flowers? (Yes, I know, it's hard to admit you may have a favorite flower, but stay with me for a minute or two more. No one will know.) If lavender (a scent most women are drawn to) or geraniums (a crisp, fresh smelling flower) catch your attention, you will love wearing their oils too.

Now here comes the hard part. Walking into a store's fragrance department. You'll have to just trust me on this one. The women working in fragrance have seen it all before: the macho, testosterone-oozing man who wants something that will get him ...well, you know; the business man who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to take his time choosing a cologne; and the inexperienced guy who just wants to smell good. These fragrance consultants (found in both department stores and now even many drugstores) are too busy to judge and are there to help get you what you want. Try 3 colognes on your skin maximum. Every thing after that becomes a blur. Once you do pick the perfect cologne for you, put it on correctly. Spritz it on a couple of times on your chest, inner thighs (uh, hmm), or wrists. But not all at once.

The best way to wear cologne? After a shower, spray it in the air 3-4x and walk through naked. Women will love its soft, even scent.Store it in a cool place out of the sun. Sun and heat damage cologne. And use it every day. Cologne's true scent lasts about 6 months to a year (depending on where you store it). Any longer and you will be wearing its vintage version. Now, go for it. You will be amazed at what happens when you do.

Ways to Feel Sexy Now (Because You Are Sexy)

Sometimes it's hard to feel sexy when everyday demands of work, family, friends, and other responsibilities take up your time. Add the fact that maybe we don't see our bodies as perfect in every way, and it's no wonder we allow ourselves to neglect the sexy side that lives in all of us.

1. Enjoy Your Body. No one's body is perfect, so why do you expect yours to be? Take a look at all the good things about you and the body you are lucky to have. Are you a great swimmer? Congratulate your body on its swimming expertise. Do you have skin that always burns and never tans? Admire it for its milky-white, feminine appearance. Are your legs a little thicker than the average person's? Thank them for being strong and getting you where you want to go, when you want to go there.

2. Give Back to Your Body. Your body deserves to be pampered for all it does for you. Treat it to a long bubble bath complete with candles, a good book, and a glass of your favorite wine (or sparkling grape juice or sparkling water with a squeeze of lime). Other great options: a relaxing facial; a manicure; or a professional massage (hopefully by some gorgeous masseur).

3. Exercise. Yes, surprisingly exercise lets you reconnect with your sexy self. Exercise releases endorphins making you feel happy, positive, and ready for lovin'. It also gives your body energy by revitalizing it. Not sure how to start? Try simply walking, swimming, or hiking 1/2 hour a day (after you get the go ahead from your doctor, of course). Schedule it in every day for the next 2 weeks (to start) and you will notice the difference in your sexy mood and sexy self.

4. Wear fragrance everyday. Studies show that women who wear fragrance feel more confident, sexy, and feminine when they wear fragrance. Get in touch with your sexy, feminine self by allowing yourself this simple, yet pretty, indulgence every day.

5. Stop comparing yourself to other women. There is no point in comparing yourself to others. Everyone has their flaws, many of which you cannot see through a quick, envious look. Poor health, a roaming husband, financial woes, and other unhappy aspects of a person's life are often hidden from view. Luckily, you aren't anyone else but you. Allow yourself to feel thrilled that you are you!

6. Wear clothes that fit and accentuate the best parts of your body. Stop covering up your body and start flaunting what is great about it. Do you have great cleavage? Wear classic v-necks or a beautiful necklace to draw attention to this area. Do you have shapely legs? Wear skirts and shorts to show them off. Are your shoulders sexy? Wear off the shoulder t's and blouses.

7. Do something out of the ordinary. Taking up a challenge and going for it makes you feel good about yourself and that means you will automatically feel sexier. Go for a hot air balloon ride. Learn scuba diving, belly dancing, or horseback riding. Even taking your dog to agility lessons where you teach him to jump through hoops and over jumps will make you feel like you have accomplished something fun and challenging. Think about what you have always wanted to do and go for it. Your sexier self is waiting on the other side.

8. Take a day off. Your sexy self is easily smothered by too much stress. Give yourself the gift of a day without cell phones, appointments, laptops, or responsibility. Let yourself have a peaceful time. Cover up the clocks, allow the answering machine to answer the phone, and decompress.

Once you have liberated yourself from the pressures of the every day world, your relaxed, sexy self will quietly emerge.
However, the uses for cedarwood oil haven't been limited to just North America because cultures around the world have used this product for a variety of benefits. The Egyptians used cedarwood essential oil for perfume and beauty purposes, the Native Americans used it to cure respiratory problems, and Greeks used the oil because they thought it would make them immortal.

And while the benefits of cedarwood may not go quite as far as the Greeks wanted, there are a variety of healing properties and other perks to using this oil. But before we get into all of this, let's take a quick look at the basics of cedarwood.

Cedarwood oil is extracted from the wood of its namesake tree through steam distillation. And there is normally plenty of wood to extract the oil from since many cedar wood trees grow over 100 feet high and 4-5 feet in diameter. As mentioned before, most cedar woods are found in North America, but these trees are also found in other areas such as the Middle East and Asia.

As far as properties of cedarwood oil go, the appearance is yellow-to-dark brown, and the smell gives off a woodsy aroma. The appearance of cedarwood is very important because some people mistake it for cedar leaf oil, which is colorless-to-pale yellow, and has much different uses including bug repellant and painting.

This top note essential oil is fast-acting, and combines well with the following oils: bergamot, benzoin, chamomile, cypress, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, juniper, lavender, patchouli, rose, neroli, rosemary and ylang ylang.

Cosmetic
While cedarwood oil certainly has a lot of excellent purposes, one of the most enticing is its number of cosmetic uses. Many people like to add a little cedarwood to their skin creams in order to stave off oily skin, psoriasis, acne and dermatitis. You can also relieve itchy skin by combining this oil with an anti-itch solution.

Dieting
Although cedarwood doesn't get mentioned with Slim Fast or Jenny Craig in regards to dieting products, this oil is actually very beneficial to those who are trying to lose weight and be healthier. The primary reason why cedarwood oil is so good as a dietary aid is because it promotes frequent urination, which helps flush out excess fat and toxins from the body.

Respiratory Aid
The Native Americans realized cedarwood essential oil’s benefit as a respiratory aid long ago because it reduces congestion brought on by colds and flues. All it takes is a few drops into some boiling water or a vaporizer for cedarwood to start working on phlegm and mucus trapped in the lungs.

Relaxation
Aside from having respiratory benefits when inhaled, cedarwood also does an excellent job at relaxing people. It's for this reason why those suffering from insomnia, and people who frequently meditate, love to use cedarwood essential oil. Not surprisingly, the effects of cedarwood also extend to reducing anxiety and nervousness in people.

Mouth Care
While many essential oils work as a mouthwash, cedarwood oil takes things a step further by also acting to promote overall mouth care. This product keeps teeth firmly entrenched in the gums, and works to reduce pain associated with toothaches.

Insect Repellant
As discussed under the basics section, the oft-confused cedar leaf oil is commonly known as an insect repellant. However, the name-associated cedarwood oil is also effective at warding off bugs and other annoying pests. In fact, you can put cedarwood in boiling water and/or a vaporizer to keep mosquitoes, bees and flies at bay.

Antiseptic
Rounding out our list of benefits and healing purposes is cedarwood's antiseptic properties. There are plenty of store-bought antiseptics that already use cedarwood as an ingredient. But if you don't find cedarwood contained in the product you use to treat wounds or cuts, you can always add a few drops of cedarwood oil.

The method that you use to attain the benefits of cedarwood all depends on what purpose you're using it for. For example, if you want to clear up congestion or prevent anxiety, inhalation is the method you need to use. To properly inhale cedarwood oil, you can either use a vaporizer or put a few drops in steaming water, while staying near the pan to breathe in its properties.

Assuming you are hoping to ward off insects with cedarwood oil, a vaporizer is once again a good choice. However, you might also consider making a spray out of the oil by combining several drops of cedarwood into a few ounces of water and alcohol; once the solution is ready, lightly spray it onto your skin to keep bugs away. Creating a solution like this is also very helpful when you want to spray your house and/or furniture to make it smell better.

If you're looking to strengthen your teeth and gums, add a few drops of cedarwood essential oil into a cup of mouthwash or water, swish the solution around in your mouth, and spit. Of course, like with any other essential oil, you want to avoid ingesting the product because cedarwood oil could make you sick when swallowed in large quantities.

In regards to using cedarwood as a cosmetic, there are a couple of ways to go about this. For one, you can fill a bathtub up and put 7 or 8 drops of cedarwood essential oil into the water; this allows you to soak up a lot of the oil's skin-aiding benefits. A more popular way for clearing up skin problems with cedarwood is to add a few drops of the oil to skin cream and apply.

As you can see, there are a variety methods for using this oil, and quite a few benefits offered too. So save yourself some money on buying tons of different products, and try using cedarwood essential oil for a variety of purposes.

View the original article here
Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-43031088676266938452012-05-06T17:59:00.000-07:002012-05-06T17:59:00.980-07:00Eucalyptus Essential Oil: Uses and Benefits<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 350px; height: 350px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFx_rMJkeNC4S31mvsVGNMb87Zd3I9qAshgRnRdT-YwWMs0-qZD48QauUdMrfWDtx0Uo7p6vcMh0A9K7KYtESmvryoCLlzms2w4WuiRk0n_076nVytwPtSNoRiWeN34tF5tkv6BZZj8jYI/s400/eucalyptus.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706548532938699538" />

Eucalyptus Essential Oil: Uses & Benefits

While many essential oils provide similar benefits, Eucalyptus essentials oil offers more unique benefits. You can use Eucalyptus oil to do everything from healing wounds faster to solving respiratory problems such as bronchitis and asthma. Of course, like many other essential oils, Eucalyptus can also be used as a hair care product or as a household aroma. If all of this sounds great, read on to find out everything you need to know about Eucalyptus essential oils.

The majority of Eucalyptus oils come from Australia, where it is extracted from evergreen Eucalyptus trees that grow there. However, Eucalyptus is also sparsely found in other parts of the world such as Asia and Africa.

Going back to Australia, it's widely believed that the Aborigines here are the first ones to have discovered and used Eucalyptus essential oils. The Aborigines used these oils to cure everything from breathing problems to muscle pains. Interestingly enough, Eucalyptus oils are still used for many of the same things today!

One more thing worth mentioning about Eucalyptus essential oils is that they are a top note, meaning they work fast so you get the benefits right away; however, top notes also fade away quicker than middle and bases notes, so you won't have long to soak up the benefits of Eucalyptus.

As far as the color of Eucalyptus essential oils go, this product ranges from colorless to pale yellow. Eucalyptus oils are also very thin, and they give off a fresh, earthy aroma when used. So make sure to keep all of this in mind when looking for quality Eucalyptus oil.

Treating Respiratory Problems
If you have a respiratory problem such as asthma, bronchitis or congestion, Eucalyptus oil is a great product to use. Gargling a little Eucalyptus oil with warm water has been shown to treat all of the aforementioned problems because Eucalyptus is a very good decongestant and anti-inflammatory.

Muscle Pain Relief
Eucalyptus oils are a popular treatment for sore muscles because you can simply massage them into the afflicted area and get instant results. Everything from minor problems such as stiff or sore muscles to serious problems like sprained ligaments and nerve pain can be relieved through a Eucalyptus oil massage.

Mouth Wash
Because of its strong germicidal properties, you can use it as a mouthwash. Just by gargling Eucalyptus daily, you can prevent cavities, and keep your mouth fresh and clean!

Wounds and Abscesses
Eucalyptus is one of the best essential oils for treating wounds and abscesses. Just putting a few drops of oil on a dressing can work wonders when healing a wound due to the strong antiseptic properties of this essential oil. You can also use Eucalyptus essential oils on bug bites and bee stings.

Dandruff Treatment
Those having a bout with dandruff should try ridding the problem with Eucalyptus oils. All you need to do is put several drops of oil into your shampoo and massage it into your hair.

Air Freshener
Due to its fast-acting nature and pleasant aroma, Eucalyptus essential oils make a perfect air freshener. Not only will you get the soft, earthy smell of Eucalyptus through your house, but this product also kills germs and bacteria.

Before we get into any of the uses for Eucalyptus essential oils, bear in mind that you need to be careful with the quantity you use. This is especially true when using Eucalyptus as a massage oil because too much can irritate the skin. With this being the case, only mix several drops of Eucalyptus essential oil in with massage oils before using.

The same rules apply when using Eucalyptus oils to treat wounds and bee stings; you shouldn't use any more than a few drops on the dressing you put on the wound. Overusing Eucalyptus oil could cause the wound to get worse, and even make the afflicted person nauseous or sick.

When gargling Eucalyptus essential oil, it's highly recommended that you avoid swallowing the oil afterward. Instead, simply mix a few drops of Eucalyptus oil into warm water, gargle the solution, then spit it out into the sink. As a good rule of thumb, you should never swallow Eucalyptus or any other essential oil unless a licensed/reputable doctor instructs you to do so (which probably won't happen).

It is okay to inhale Eucalyptus oils when treating respiratory problems, but again, the key is to do this in moderation. A couple of small drops on a cloth should do the trick without making you feel bad afterward.

You can also combine Eucalyptus oil with other essential oils such as rosemary, cedar wood and lavender essential oil.

Eucalyptus oil is one of the more popular essential oils, so you shouldn't have a whole lot of trouble finding it. Most chain stores sell 5 oz., 12 oz. and 16 oz. bottles of this product, while you can also find it online. In many cases, it's best to shop online because you can often find better deals on Eucalyptus over the internet.

Of course, you need to make sure that you're buying Eucalyptus essential oils from a trusted source because there are some companies that sell low quality products. Some of the lesser products don't have an odor and/or will be darker in appearance (remember, quality Eucalyptus oil is clear or pale yellow).

Now this isn't to scare you off from buying Eucalyptus essential oils online because you can get all of its amazing benefits at a fraction of the cost over the internet. Instead, you just need to be careful when buying this product so that you don't get ripped off. Assuming you get good quality product, you will be able to enjoy its ability to soothe aching muscles, heal wounds, alleviate respiratory problems and make your house smell better!

View the original article here
Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-22863289114448282832012-04-22T17:59:00.000-07:002012-04-22T17:59:00.624-07:00How to Apply Cologne Properly: Tips on Applying Cologne<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3XKVR2a1Aezp2-TcEsLe5zh-E9LEDc419v4yQjnz5hY0s_gomDZb1lZdnogbEw5JnlGpytydpKhvbBcoEabHRMH6QkeJ-qomP2_7rwcOWsPDV2hPHUWKf-U6lsuMPBDf4tBBqO9o5Y8tw/s400/best-place-for-spraying-cologne.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706547914263521522" />

How to Properly Use Cologne

Cologne is an important part of a man's daily routine…..at least it should be. After all, simply using just soap and water isn’t enough for some women since they like to smell a little cologne as well. Fortunately, cologne doesn't have to be expensive, so choose one that fits your budget. Also keep in mind that body sprays are not the same as colognes, and should only be used when deodorant and/or cologne isn't around. The reason why is because body sprays have too much alcohol in them, and this causes the smell to wear off when combined with your body's sweat. Getting back to the subject, here is a look at how you should apply cologne for the best results.

Throughout the seasons, your body's temperature fluctuates, and so should your cologne. Think of cologne as you would clothing, and choose two different products to wear in the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons. Because the body becomes warmer in the spring and summer, you'll want to have a scent that is light like your shorts and t-shirt, instead of something heavy like a sweater in the winter. Test the cologne out before purchasing it, and don't go to the store expecting to buy one right away; take your time in choosing so that you're sure you have the right scent.

After you've found the right cologne, you'll need to know how to properly apply it to your skin. It seems easy enough to remove the cap and then spray; however, if you're not spraying the cologne in the proper place, you'll just be wasting it. So use your own body heat to keep the fragrance from becoming a dull scent that only you can smell. To do this, you need to know your body's pulse points, which are the areas of the body that give off the most heat since they have blood vessels nearest to the skin.

The pulse points are as follows:

Only use what you need because if you spend $60 on cologne, you don't want to throw it away. And remember the old saying that less is more. This is especially true for those of us who have sensitive noses! After all, you wouldn't want to offend someone because your cologne is too strong.

Thankfully technology has advanced, and now cologne comes in a spray bottle so that you don't have to risk spilling the bottle on the floor or surrounding areas. However, it’s important to know the basics in case you have an old-fashioned bottle, or the cap has fallen off of your bottle. Assuming you’re in this boat, all you need to do is put a finger over the open bottle, tip it over your finger, and then apply as usual. If this doesn't seem like enough cologne, repeat the process once more.

Read on for easy instructions for putting cologne on, and ways to keep the fragrance from fading.
The thing that seemingly makes the most sense when putting cologne on is to spray the product onto your clothing. However, this isn't a good idea because some colognes are colored and will potentially stain your clothes. For men who like to use aftershave, only use the same brand of aftershave as your cologne. For example, if you are using "Johnny’s Aftershave for Men", then you should only use "Johnny’s Cologne for Men" so as not to layer scents that don’t flatter each other. Layering scents is fine as long as they are similar in smell to one another. You can reapply cologne once during the day - although most cologne will last all day. Of course, this is determined by how well your body's personal acidity level will hold up when combined with the oils found in cologne. It may sound odd to hear that colognes and perfumes have an expiration date, but they do, and it is important to keep them in mind; the average bottle of fragrance has a timeline of 3-5 years. If you happen to lose track of when you bought your cologne, you can call the manufacturer for instructions on how to find out when your bottle expires. Use the cologne at your own risk after 5 years of having the same bottle. Old cologne tends to smell more like alcohol - or something else - other than the original scent. And since you've had the bottle for such a long time, the odds of you liking it are low.Do research first before purchasing any cologne, look at what other men have to say about a brand, see how long it lasts, and find out if women like it. The way other people respond is important because nine times out of ten, the majority rules.

View the original article here
Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-57537522246134012172012-04-01T17:59:00.000-07:002012-04-01T17:59:00.607-07:00How to Make Your Own Perfume: Blending Oils<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaeTqt28e-KcZii1yYvrrql_U0lXHYf4iyQLgSNPOzcAtXbl5Yn4uZk9ae_8eMxQJLEfCmB9_2v5pus-gR8Z95P9DUt-rRdUCgUmdXnzg7elzTsjB8aWtDp_SNc7MRUz2aAEhRjkGG4xqE/s400/blending+oils.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706546819700797506" />
How to Make Your Own Perfume: Blending Oils

Essential oils can be blended both in body care products (from 3-4 to maximally 6 oils) and in perfume. In perfume production 6-9 oils are used as main and 3-6 as nuances (the more experienced person the more oils).

It’s best to start with 4-5 oils. You should follow these rules when creating your own fragrance:

There should be three notes: Top note, Middle note and Base note:
5-10% Base note,30-70 % Middle noteand 10-40% Top note

or:
3 parts (30%) Middle note - middle and strong notes for the theme,2 parts (20%) Base note - strong, long lasting notes for the undertone,4 parts (40%) Top note - light, volatile notes for the overture,0.5 part (0.5%) Top-middle note – to blend these two notes,0.5 part (0.5%) Middle-base note – to blend these two notes,

You can always follow your own rules but there is one common practice: mix all drop by drop and keep controlling the aroma while doing this.

Making your own, new perfume you must start with the middle note which enhances the theme. Then you add the base note defining the undertone and the top note for the overture. Top and bottom heart notes are always made at the end as they act as a go-between for top, middle and base notes.

In feminine fragrances there are always floral and fruity fragrances in the middle, that are completed with other matching notes:
Floral, light - delicate and subtle flowery fragrances with fruit and citrus tones,Floral, green - floral notes with leaf, grass and moss overtones,Floral, green - typically floral fragrances,Floral, sweet (heavy) – exotic, luscious and sweet with balmy and woody overtones,Fruity, heavy and sweet - heavy, sweet fragrances with fruity overtones,

Selecting the oils you should follow your individual taste (favorite fragrances) and needs (to relax, refresh, for body or skin care or to help in medical problems). The oils must be mixed in harmony. You can’t use the oils that are all dominating, strong or don’t go well together. Creating a fragrance, it’s good to take notes and remember the quantity and the type of oil used. It will be helpful next time.

You should read descriptions of the oils before you mix them. Some of them are unsuitable for pregnant women as they are strong and irritant (you may use them only in small amounts). They can cause photo-allergic reactions (you can’t expose yourself to the sunlight).

The best way is to roll the bottle or keep turning it upside down. Then you leave them for a few weeks so that they could blend well.

View the original article here
Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-80883123970985146482012-03-25T17:59:00.000-07:002012-03-25T17:59:00.178-07:00Lavender Essential Oil - Healing Properties<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 265px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh70iScu7KY8mzgM0VAUU7RhYnzu96zPKR_bSEc9gfKK53-0N5xDTAGluENTA7lmrX9peffh9csWRX5i3be0pPb8Ll-Ks2o70IKT1VWvGd7HQ8Tc4lPzqP4ctDVsHiyVtghuE70Qjh5uihB/s400/avender-essential-oil.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706545561386182562" />

Lavender Essential Oil: Uses, Benefits & Healing: Aromatherapy

Lavender oil is one of the most popular essential oils because of its variety of uses and healing properties. People have used lavender oil to treat headaches, stress, tension, burns, pain, infections, wounds, and high blood pressure - benefits are many. Mothers have even been known to use lavender scented lotions and soaps on children to help them relax and sleep longer at night. If you're intrigued by all of the things that this wonder oil can do, keep reading to find out more about lavender oil, benefits of using and its healing abilities.

Lavender oil is taken from the flowers of lavender plants through steam distillation. Because lavender flowers are so fragrant, they have been used in potpourri and perfumes for many years. The oil found in lavender flowers is great for aromatherapy, and can be found in aromatherapy lotions, soaps, gels, infusions, and oils.

Lavender oil is mostly known as a middle note (takes a while to establish a scent), but is often used with other essential oils like pine, clary, geranium, nutmeg, cedar wood and sage, which also allows it to be used as a base (very fragrant, long-lasting) or top note (very fragrant, short-lived). Little did Orsini know, Neroli would go on to become one of the most popular essential oils due to its ability to alleviate headaches, treat depression and rejuvenate skin. Incredibly, these aren't even half of the benefits since there are numerous other perks to using Neroli. Here is a look at some of the other benefits to Neroli essential oils, along with the basics of this product.

Neroli is certainly one of the best-smelling essential oils on the market with its sweet, floral aroma. In fact, Neroli essential oils are used in a large number of top-selling perfumes, which speaks volumes about its wonderful smell.

Moving past the sweet fragrance of Neroli, this oil is also revered for the fact that it's one of the safest and least irritating essential oils out there. This, coupled with the fact that Neroli is a middle note and can be combined with a lot of other products, makes it one of the most widely-used essential oils.

This bitter orange tree extract is a dark-greenish color, and its consistency is somewhat thick for a liquid. So when you go to buy Neroli essential oils, make sure that they match this description.

Antidepressant
We all feel down sometimes, but you can quickly rid this feeling by using Neroli essential oils because they work to lift your spirits and bring about feelings of happiness. This is one of the big reasons why Neroli is used so much in aromatherapy.

Beauty Product
Neroli essential oil is heavily used as a beauty product because of its skin regenerative properties. For one thing, Neroli reduces the appearance of stretch marks until they're much less visible, and also helps fade scars. Another beauty usage of Neroli essential oils is to refresh tired skin by applying a small amount of this product to the skin. You can also make your skin smoother and repair broken capillaries by applying Neroli essential oil on a regular basis.

Cold Prevention
If you want to avoid catching a cold this winter, Neroli essential oils are an excellent place to begin. Neroli works to ward off potential cold-causing bacteria, and keeps mucus at bay too. Neroli essential oils also have somewhat of a Nyquil effect since they help people sleep better as well.

Digestion Aid and/or Increasing Appetite
If you're having trouble with digestion, a little Neroli can go a long way to improving your digestive process. Along with this, you can also use Neroli essentials oils to increase your appetite when you aren't getting enough nutrients.

Perfume and/or Household Fragrance
As mentioned before, Neroli essentials oils have an excellent aroma, and they're used quite extensively in the perfume industry. Of course, if you find that your perfume doesn't contain any Neroli, you can also add a drop or two into any perfume to give it an extra sweet smell. In addition to this, you can use Neroli as a household fragrance by adding it to a vaporizer.

Relieving Muscle Pain
Does your body feel tired and worn-out? Neroli essential oils can help you feel right again because they work to soothe your muscles, and provide relief to the body as a whole. Just add a little Neroli to message oils, and watch this product work wonders!

Unlike some essential oils Neroli is non-toxic, making it easier to use than other oils. Of course, this isn't to say that you shouldn't still know the proper methods for using Neroli essential oils.

If you're looking to use Neroli in aromatherapy when treating depression, or you want to use it to make your house smell better, add several drops of this oil into a vaporizer. Since Neroli is a middle note, it might take slightly less longer than a top note to start working, but a few minutes is definitely worth the wait.

You can get the beauty benefits of Neroli essential oils by adding a couple of drops to your different skin creams. Just by applying skin cream with Neroli once or twice a day, your skin will appear healthier and more youthful-looking in no time!

One more common way to use Neroli essential oil is to add a few drops to water or any other beverage, then drink it. But even with Neroli being non-toxic, you want to be careful with this method since you’re only supposed to digest essential oils if a licensed doctor recommends doing so.

Most stores that sell Neroli essential oils are honest about the products they offer, so you can buy with confidence. Even with this being said, you should know a thing or two about buying Neroli essential oils, beginning with the appearance (covered earlier).

Another thing to do when buying Neroli essential oils is to look at the prices and make sure that the company isn't pricing Neroli at the same price as their other products. Non-diluted Neroli essential oils are pretty expensive, and they are considered one of the best essential oils. So they should not be priced the same as every other essential oil.

If you've already purchased Neroli essential oils, you should test the oil out to make sure it's not diluted. The best way to do this is by putting a small drop or two of the Neroli on a piece of paper. If the oil leaves behind greasy, oily stains, it may have been diluted with less expensive oils. In turn, this should tip you off to not buy from this company again.

Above all, as long as you make sure that the company you're buying from is reputable, you shouldn't have much trouble purchasing good, quality Neroli essential oils.

View the original article here
Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-81715104358180089022012-02-26T16:59:00.000-08:002012-02-26T16:59:00.237-08:00Rosemary Essential Oil: Benefits and Uses<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 360px; height: 239px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgE2Wm5qOV98CXmvrCn8UlGiIvq8kTZilljmd-f4m2_SY9227q7f5kBAkcFtZy0RzvUW2_yy4EzjeCkX91BRkP6cCKDsp2fuFhHuMTTii6PA5Ve-ELyvJs-aKRhAXa-z2_gQeBP9UuWyxL/s400/rosemary-essential-oil.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706543964105346706" />

Rosemary Essential Oil: Benefits, Uses & Healing Properties

Found along the windswept shores of the Mediterranean Sea, rosemary oil has a deep history dating back to the Roman days. The Romans used rosemary for a variety of purposes, including healing, incense, cosmetics and religious ceremonies. Even today, people hold rosemary essential oil sacred because of its incredible beauty and healing properties, which include being a memory aid, pain reliever, skin toner, mouthwash, moisturizer, respiratory aid and more. Assuming you are interested in finding out the specifics on how this product can help you, here is a deeper look at rosemary oil.

As mentioned before, rosemary is found in the Mediterranean region, and it grows as an evergreen plant that sometimes reaches 5-6 feet high. Seeing as how rosemary has traditionally grown around the Mediterranean area, it’s no surprise that it appears in both Roman and Greek mythology. In fact, Aphrodite was depicted as wearing rosemary when she was first born. In regards to the actual appearance of the oil, rosemary is basically colorless, while the scent is strong, fresh and citrusy.

Aside from rosemary’s appearance and mythology presence, another noteworthy detail about this oil is that it’s a middle note, which means rosemary can be combined with plenty of other essential oils. Some of the oils that work well with rosemary are cedarwood, juniper, tea tree, basil and geranium.

Skin Care
Rosemary essential oil has several different uses in regards to skin care, including the ability to tone and moisturize your skin. In addition to this, you can also smooth out wrinkles, reduce fine lines, clear up acne, and minimize the ugliness of varicose veins and broken capillaries.

Aromatherapy
Rosemary is one of the top oils when it comes to aromatherapy benefits. Whether it’s congestion, a cold, a sore throat or asthma, rosemary essential oil goes a long way to clearing up these problems. Aside from the healing benefits of rosemary aromatherapy, this oil makes a room smell great when used.

Pain Reliever
Those suffering from headaches and migraines have found that rosemary essential oil works wonders for reducing the pain. Going further, rosemary also extends to aid with other pain-related problems like sore muscles, arthritis and rheumatism. So whether you’re massaging the oil directly into the skin or inhaling it through aromatherapy, rosemary is very effective at relieving pain.

Memory Aid
Some students who have a solid knowledge of rosemary oil use it to improve their mental concentration and potentially boost test scores. It’s also used by doctors, lawyers and people in other strenuous professions to focus and battle fatigue. The reasons why rosemary works so well as a fatigue/memory aid is because it increases brain activity.

Mouthwash
If you’re ever short on toothpaste, rosemary essential oil makes a fine substitute because it kills bad breath and disinfects the mouth. Just make sure that you don’t ingest the rosemary, or any other essential oil for that mater.

Hair Stimulator
As yet another benefit of rosemary oil, it stimulates hair follicles and helps people grow fuller, thicker-looking hair. Other hair-based benefits include preventing gray hair and reducing the appearance of a dry, flakey scalp. The effects of rosemary oil on hair are even better when combined with tea tree or basil oil.

Digestion
One last major benefit of rosemary essential oil is that it can help people out with their digestion problems or stomach aches. To use rosemary for digestion purposes, you can add a few leaves on the side of your supper.

As mentioned before, you should avoid ingesting rosemary in large doses - if not entirely. The reason why is because rosemary essential oil can be potentially toxic, and cause seizures if taken in big amounts. The only time that you should really consider ingesting rosemary oil is if a doctor has advised you to, which isn’t very common.

Moving past the oil, you should also be careful with the amount of rosemary leaves that you consume. As previously stated under "Digestion" in the uses and healing properties section, it’s safe to eat rosemary leaves along with meals. However, too many rosemary leaves can certainly be a bad thing, especially in the case of pregnant women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. In extreme cases where lots of leaves are eaten, rosemary causes vomiting, spasms and even fluid in the lungs.

But as long as you’re responsible when consuming rosemary leaves, and you avoid ingesting the oil altogether, you shouldn’t have any worries in regards to using this product.

In order to ensure that you avoid any of the unpleasantries discussed above, it’s important that you properly use rosemary essential oil. With this being said, the most popular and safest usage of rosemary oil involves putting a few drops into a vaporizer, and letting the aroma fill the air. This use is great for people who want to relieve congestion, reduce headache pains and/or make their house smell better. One thing to remember when doing this is that rosemary is a middle note, so it takes a little longer than top notes to start working.

Moving along, those who want to relieve muscle and/or joint pain with rosemary essential oil should put a few drops in their massage oil; once the solution is mixed, you can rub the oil into your skin. As alluded to in the cautions section, you don’t want to exceed a few drops of the product when mixing it with massage oil.

Much like with the massage oil, you can also add a few drops of rosemary to face and skin creams. Doing this creates an even more powerful, age-defying effect with the skin care products you use. Just remember, the key thing with rosemary oil is that you want to use it in moderation. In most cases, adding a few drops to whatever product or vaporizer you’re using should be enough to get the effects you are looking for.

View the original article here
Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-46871160543984682012-02-05T16:59:00.000-08:002012-02-07T15:38:13.435-08:00Top Notes, Middle Notes and Base Notes: Essential Oils<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 380px; height: 314px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN8xOY0LQ5FwMfh19AzlTkIl0bRWxOrmDN7DDRnKT_FZks63swFzfa6QRyPpsN5caSfu71-_D41_y0rPJOYZ9gzHVNrEFwEWXMQ3h6tSwSxf1eqoZpgFnE9cHuFftEmUSIiHVngOsh-J7h/s400/perfume+pyramid.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5706541379825019954" />

Essential Oils: Top Notes, Middle Notes and Base Notes

If you're looking to enhance your skin and overall beauty, there is perhaps no better way to do it than by using essential oils. Of course, essential oils serve a lot more purposes than just beautifying because they are also used as alternative medicines. But no matter if you're using essential oils to make yourself look 10 years younger or cure a common cold, it's important to understand what oils are used for what purposes. This being said, let's take a took at the basics of essential oils, the different notes, and how to use the oils.

Essential oils are concentrated liquids that come from plants, and they have noticeable fragrances. The oils are extracted by either distillation (separating mixtures by boiling them) or the less common method of solvent extraction (separating from one liquid phase to another). Essential oils are usually classified by their notes, which is another word for scent characteristics. In order to enhance the qualities of essential oils, notes are often combined to create useful products.

Now that the boring scientific explanation of essential oils is out of the way, let's move on to discussing the different notes and their uses!

The name "top note" is somewhat misleading in essential oils because they don't last long, and they tend to be relatively inexpensive in stores. Of course, this isn't to say that top notes aren't important because they are used to combat depression, fatigue, and a lack of focus. When top notes are mixed with both middle and high notes, the top note is what people normally smell first because they act so fast. Of course, it is this fast-acting nature that causes top notes to disappear quickly.

Some of the common top notes that you'll find include eucalyptus, bergamot, cajuput, cinnamon, basil, petitgrain, corriander, lime, tangerine, tea tree, cedarwood, lemon, verbena, and rosemary.

Middle notes include the largest number of essential oils, and they offer the most benefits in regards to health and beauty. Many middle notes have the ability to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, cellulite and stretch marks, plus they are useful for healing skin problems like bruises, cuts, and burns. Middle notes have also been known to reduce pain associated with stiff joints and arthritis. In conjunction with other notes, the middle notes are very effective at linking properties between the mental and physical benefits. It's for this reason why middle notes are combined with both top and base notes.

As far as the fragrance for middle notes goes, they aren't always smelled immediately because it takes a while for them to act. Some of the common middle notes include juniper, chamomile, geranium, cardamom, lavender, ylang ylang, cypress, fennel, melissa, ginger, chamomile, cypress, hyssop, jasmine, rose, hyssop, juniper, peppermint, marjoram, black pepper, cardamom, fennel, geranium, ho leaf, lavender, marjoram, melissa, rosemary, spikenard, yarrow, myrtle, nutmeg, palma rosa and pine.

Base notes draw their name from the fact that they are usually extracted from tree and plant roots buried deep in the ground. Like top notes, base notes have a lot of properties for combating various feelings and emotions such as anxiety, anger, frustration, and nervousness. Some people even believe that base notes have the power to alleviate deep-seeded psychological problems when used long-term.

Out of all the notes, base notes take the longest to start acting; however, their fragrance and qualities also stay around the longest, and their scent is very strong and noticeable too. Some base notes are oak moss, frankincense, ginger, jasmine, myrrh, balsam peru, cedarwood, cinnamon, ylang ylang, clove, patchouli, rose, rosewood, sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver.

When it comes to buying essential oils from stores, there are a few things you want to keep in mind. Be careful when buying oils that are marked "perfume oil" or "fragrance oil" because they might not have all (or any) of the useful properties that you're looking for. In some cases, vendors only use chemicals to make their essential oils, so it pays to do a little research before you buy products.

Another term to watch out for when buying essential oils is "aromatherapy grade" because there is no agency that grades oils with this label. Now this isn't to say that you shouldn't ever buy a product with this term; just know that some companies are willing to attach phrases like this to products without any basis.

One other important thing you should do when buying essential oils is email the company asking questions that you want to know. Even if you don't have any specific questions, it's always good to email an online essentials oil store just to see how their customer service department is. The better the customer service is, the better the chance of them having good products!

There are several different ways to use essential oils beginning with inhalation. To inhale an essential oil, put a few drop on a tissue, and breath in; you'll find that the product starts acting almost immediately this way. You can also use essential oils by adding them to a humidifier or vaporizer. In some cases, this way works much better than inhaling the oils.

One more popular way to use essential oils is to combine them with massage oil, and rub the mixture into your skin. If you're going to do this, make sure you are very knowledgeable about essential oils so that you don't cause an allergic reaction or breakouts. The same goes for when you combine essential oils together in a bottle because you don't want to regret your decision to use these oils. Also, make sure that the bottle you combine the oils in is sterilized.

In any case, essential oils can be very beneficial to your over health and beauty, so consider giving them a try!

View the original article here
Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-43009442054668280812011-09-25T19:37:00.000-07:002011-09-25T19:37:00.430-07:0010 ways to use perfume samples from magazines<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 276px; height: 183px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaH7jHBusVcIlPbWZGB7aZe8ewHbkDsPreiNdWs6uqY5bG6B5xCgWxpKswJSl1f9eAQEVEB218h3e8Mh1_Nk48z6lIWWYr-ehzXQ8wcgXWvmQaWqqmsGytqcqYgrqp4vd4D2foc58ueGt5/s400/magazine+perfume.jpg" border="0" alt="perfume sample"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5642902116162670914" />

What do you do with all those perfume samples from magazines? Give them a quick sniff? Toss them in the trash? Collect them? Perfume samples are handier than you think. Here are 10 ways to put them to good use.

1. Dress up your drawers. Tuck a few of your favorites in your underwear drawers as well as your other clothes drawers.

2. Stow them in your suitcase. Before hitting the road, toss an unopened sample into your suitcase. The sample won’t leak on your clothes and they will smell great for the duration of the trip.

3. Store them in your shoes (not while wearing them, of course). Your friends will think you have the best-smelling feet around. Not to mention your closet will smell much better. (See No. 6.)

4. Stash them under your car seat. Who needs one of those cheap, stinky air fresheners? Place a perfume sample under your seat and you’re good to go.

5. Put them in your purse. With all the stuff we load into our purses, it’s no wonder they sometimes smell a little stale. Nothing a perfume sample can’t fix.

Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being. There are a wide number of essential oils available, each with its own healing properties.

Here are five things you may not know about essential oils:

1. Neroli oil, or “orange blossom,” is one of the most expensive essential oils on the market. It takes 1,000 lbs. of orange blossoms to make one pound of Neroli oil. This semi-precious oil is used to ease anxiety, depression, insomnia, and given its wonderful aroma, it can be considered an aphrodisiac.

2. Captain James Cook first mentioned Tea Tree oil in 1772 during his voyage to Botany Bay, Australia. He and his crew made a tea from the leaves to prevent scurvy. Tea Tree’s healing properties are abundant. Not only is it a natural immune booster, but it also fights all three kinds of infection. It works to heal skin conditions, burns and cuts, and also works as an insecticide. In addition, it helps to soothe and treat cold sores, respiratory conditions, muscle aches, the flu, Athlete’s foot and dandruff. Its uses are vast and its healing power is quick.

3. In the 1920s, French chemist Rene Maurice Gattefosse coined the term “aromatherapy.” The story goes that during an experiment, Gattefosse burned his hand and had nothing nearby to soak it in except lavender. Apparently the lavender quickly healed the burn, spurring him to begin research on the science behind essential oils.

4. Our sense of smell is the only sense directly tied to the limbic area of the brain, which is considered the emotional control center. This means that when essential oils are inhaled, they go directly to the brain. Our other four senses — taste, sight, touch and hearing — are first routed through the thalamus before reaching designated areas of the brain.

5. Essential oils are beneficial healers because they transport oxygen to the cells, which trigger great healing effects. It is safe to say that all of them are anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-infectious, anti-tumoral, anti-parasitic, and antiseptic on some level.

Many job search sites will warn you about the importance of good presentation. It is vital that you wear appropriate clothes and maintain an attractive appearance so that your first impression with your interviewers is the best it can be. However, there are warnings that come with making a good presentation as well. The best known issue is that of fragrances.

Scents are one of the primary causes of a good or bad first impression. If you smell bad, the employer is going to immediately think poorly of your appearance, presentation, and even your ability to do the job. Smell good and you appear to be a clean individual that takes care of yourself. Clearly there is a good reason to care about how to smell, since your scent can make a tremendous difference in how you appear to others.

In order to smell decent, many men and women put on massive amounts of perfumes, aftershave, and colognes before their job interview. Logically this makes a lot of sense. If you put on great scents, chances are you will smell great and make a great olfactory first impression.

Here is where the risk comes into play. Many adults, especially women, are massively allergic to the strong smells that come from these perfumes and colognes. So much so that they may not be able to be in the same room with you, let alone shake your hand. When you go to the interview, you risk running into someone that is allergic to these smells and ultimately harming your interview.

There are a variety of tools you can use to still smell your best during the interview without risking these allergies. The first is to use unscented soap and rely on your natural odor to help you out during the interview. Another is to look for hypoallergenic fragrances. You can also put just a light amount of these sprays on a single part of your body. Then, if your interviewer mentions an allergy, simply tell them you can easily wash it off and go clean that spot in the bathroom.

This is not to say that you should avoid perfumes and colognes before your interview. The chance that you will run into someone that is allergic is not too high. However, before you go to any job interview you want to do whatever it takes to maximize your chances of landing the job, so just be aware that if you decide to splash on a large amount of perfume or cologne, you may run into someone that cannot handle your presence.
It’s finally here – your wedding day. You’ve waited for this day since you were a little girl, playing dress-up and trailing pillow cases, bed sheets, and tablecloths off the back of your head and your mother’s perfume dabbed behind your ears. You imagined the groom would be that little Johnny Johnson next door and never gave a thought to any life beyond your wedding day.

You’re no little girl anymore and Johnny Johnson moved away a long time ago. This time, the wedding is real. You’ve planned every detail: the music, the flowers, the dresses, and the cake. You’ve sent invitations and chosen your bridesmaids. You are getting ready for the most important day of your life. Your maid of honor walks in the room, and… you nearly gag! Her perfume is so strong that you just know it will override the flowers in the church. You honestly don’t know if you will be able to stand next to her during the ceremony. Your perfect day is ruined!

Don’t let this happen to you! So many things need to be done for a wedding and so many accessories to consider, that it’s easy to overlook the perfume. Of course, you aren’t used to deciding what perfume your friends and family should wear, but on your wedding day, it’s so important that fragrances don’t conflict or overpower the room. You need to decide on a single perfume for your bridesmaids and yourself so there is no chance that two scents will clash. So how do you choose the perfect fragrance for your wedding day?

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 160px; height: 123px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguLUkuKnuUcWqrFDuVrLji4HY6BiInR8ThHPermuBOOJ3WwLdlvir7xGw8_j5CYJ7o0hPzfFgNsiwOM6H3tsz2rfpn0nWdqXY46vx__CH8SapuAZqY5lX6FjVjmbaydmko59sIiiI83Qwb/s400/bride-perfume+2.jpg" border="0" alt="wedding perfume"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5642896268310223442" />
The scent of a perfume subtly changes with every woman who wears it. It also changes over time. A perfume’s fragrance has three layers, called notes. The top note is the one you smell when you put on your perfume. This fades quickly and melds into the middle note. The middle note lasts for an hour or so before it too fades. Finally, the bottom note comes floating up – this is the scent that lasts for the rest of the day.

When you are choosing perfume for your wedding, pay close attention to the middle notes and the bottom notes. You will probably want to apply your perfume just before you walk down the aisle, so the middle note will be most prominent throughout the ceremony. However, during the reception and the party the bottom note will be the one that everyone notices.

It’s a good idea to have all the bridesmaids try the perfume out before the wedding day, just to make sure no one has any sensitivity to the perfume and so you know that the middle note and bottom note on each woman blends in harmony with the others.

Perfumes are also categorized by families. These are the general quality of the scents, like fruity or floral. Many women like a soft floral fragrance on their wedding day for the romantic feel, but you may prefer something else. It’s your day, so choose your favorite.

Just stick with something light so no one winds up with a headache. The perfume from your wedding day will always have a special meaning for you and your husband, so take some time to choose one that fits your special day perfectly.
When it comes to storing perfume, the most well known guidelines are 1) keeping it out of direct light, and 2) storing it someplace cool and dry. My (and Karen’s) first guess for the best place to store perfume was the fridge, but should we really be putting our pretty perfume bottles between the veggies and cheese? Are there better options?

While heat is definitely harmful to fragrances, large fluctuations in temperature can be even worse, so moving your perfumes in and out of the fridge isn’t necessarily better than storing them on your window.

Just like makeup, perfume cannot stand humidity, so the bathroom is out. Also, you want to avoid exposing them to air as much as possible; keep your fragrances closed at all times, and give preference to sprays over splashes. One problem with splashes, as well as rollerballs, is that oils and dirt can eventually spoil the scent, so try to minimize the applicator’s contact with bare skin.

I didn’t know this for the longest time, but it turns out that one should not shake fragrance, and not just to avoid breaking a fragile bottle. If you like to reapply perfume throughout the day, try to leave the bottle at home and take an atomizer along.

The best storage places for our nice smelling friends are train cases, storage boxes, closet shelves and the like -– places away from direct light, heat and humidity, and where they won’t get moved around too much.

Although I’m sad that I shouldn’t put all the pretty bottles on display on my vanity table, with so many options for cute storage boxes, I’m sure I’ll find something I like!
Perhaps you met by chance and sniffed it on a friend, in the pages of a magazine, or wafting through the air at Nordstrom. Or maybe you designed it yourself after researching fragrance notes, perfume houses, and bottle designs. No matter how you found it, you finally took the plunge and purchased yourself a pricey new scent. Now you have an expensive bottle of fluid on your vanity, and it’ll be worth less than the box it came in if you don’t handle it with the care.

1. Storage
High heat and sunlight have it in for your fancy new fragrance. They breaks apart the bonds between fragrance molecules, weakening the potency and overall shelf life of your perfume, and eventually leading to a watery, lusterless liquid with little to no staying power. Even more destructive, though, are frequent fluctuations in temperature that can spoil a fragrance fast.

So, what’s the best way to store fragrances to preserve their gentle power? While it’s not always practical, one way is to stick them straight in your fridge. Temps at the higher end of the spectrum tend to degrade fragrances, but lower temps can actually protect them. And because many scents contain a veritable amount of alcohol to accelerate drying time after application, you need never worry about them accidentally freezing and expanding. Should your refrigerator be stuffed to the seams (especially in this post-holiday month), never fear. Simply keep your scents out of your bathroom (where the steam from your shower could prove harmful) and out of direct sunlight (UV rays are another common instigator of scent spoilage). When in doubt, ask yourself this: “Would I store an expensive vintage wine here?” If “no” even crosses your mind, cross this spot out as a potential display area for your cologne collection.

2. Application
One frequent misstep many people make is in applying fragrances to incorrect areas. However hard it is to believe, scents really do mix with your body’s chemistry. It’s why some fragrances smell wonderful on the tester strips but just kind of “eh” when you get them home. By applying your perfume to certain points on your body, you can get it to play perfectly with your pH and body heat to create a lasting and balanced aromatic experience.

The points are known as pulse points, and they’re exactly what they sound like they should be: places where it’s easy to read your pulse. Now, I would never recommend applying your scent to each and every one of them (unless, of course, you’re trying to knock someone unconscious), but here they are from the ground up: behind the knees, the inner thighs, about an inch below the belly button, the inner wrists, the crease of the inner elbow, the frontward facing area of the underarm, the base of the neck, behind each ear, and the temples. Which ones you choose to use are up to you, but I recommend choosing one place to spritz for a Perfume Extract, two for an Eau de Parfum, and three for an Eau de Toilette (in these cases, a “paired point”—such as the wrists—counts as one if you only spritz once and distribute it between both areas, or twice if you use one spritz on each). Of course, this is just a general guideline, and how many spritzes you use will vary greatly depending on the product. For example, my Dior Fahrenheit, an Eau de Toilette, really only needs one spritz to last me throughout the day.

3. General Tips
Layer two different fragrances to come up with a unique signature scent, and help prolong the staying power of both. Spray about an inch to two away from the pulse point for a more focussed, concentrated application (and to waste less product). If you only wear one fragrance year round, spritz a plain piece of cotton cloth with it, and leave it in your drawers; the scent will slowly and subtlely penetrate your clothing to help promote the general aura and projection of your fragrance all day. Also, apply fragrance right after taking a hot shower while your pores are still dilated and eager to absorb.

Whether you’re working a smoky eye or rocking a red lip, your fine self is looking flawless (thanks to Karen’s incredible makeup tips). All that remains is a few spritzes of a fabulous perfume. Now, this perfume must do more than simply smell good. A great perfume should be the finishing touch to your look, creating an aura that matches your makeup. It should add to your sex appeal when you’re looking slinkier than Halle Berry, or create a sense of romance when you’re having an ultra-feminine, Keira-Knightley-in-her-latest-period-piece moment. Here are a few suggestions for perfumes that lend themselves to a particular makeup style; please feel free to mix and match.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 319px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpJ63XKTwqM_DgrDfsyCQswq8Xz0FOLl_jmg3IBVnLKFNNZp9Dl1-Dn56B47FkCu7Tm0Emd7wjoLHRdT62Z6ZMP6qGGwUNWCmEGjA4brHgAbL4Ed6c9sqHioyFRuq-q224v_OjLK5_pqDv/s400/smokey-eye.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593030918565828866" />
Smoky Eyes

Your kohl-rimmed eyes already whisper, “Come hither”. From the name to the deep red bottle to the sultry blend of jasmine, vanilla, and musk, Hypnotic Poison was designed to hypnotize, Biggie-style.

3. Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur ($140). Spicy, ambery perfection. Musc Ravageur achieves what so many men do not: comes on strong, but turns cuddly by the end of the night.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 348px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvuUsRevQU_LAAMDGP14DN_X8pVaIEzvi_ZXMIv9S0mNHOxRsIogmdBfwcvDQGVaGa83MAeRkSMC9f5bL3maGd1qlZGBtHN22eQlCkt2-E2Ac0CQ9phQxQt66O5uLQFXS5yKWGZcHVweMf/s400/red-lips.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593032139401516834" />
Red Lips and Liner

Red lips and a flick of liquid liner recall the glamorous stars of 1940’s Old Hollywood. If it was good enough for Marilyn, it’s good enough for you.

2. Guerlain Shalimar ($56). A smoky vanilla created in 1925, Shalimar is perfect for those who love sweet scents but want something a little more sophisticated than Pink Sugar.

3. Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose, $130. If your look is more inspired by Katy Perry and Dita Von Teese than Old Hollywood, you might enjoy this more modern blend of rose and violet. Lipstick Rose smells just like a Chanel lipstick, and feels retro in a gorgeously kitschy way.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 296px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLYlJ47Z_ylNPziHTNMO7qy4KR-zpnKn03qeE2rEjS_AacWDYhxaszBQPtn1jeAd7fB_f1wbvEyxCC9s5RY4_KnHlD7VfF3IUS0C8VGxyYxxBQ_DRY9qb5U4zPj5tEkyctEWBFjkqpWehm/s400/orange-and-blue-eye.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593032807060739394" />
Wild Child

Your delightfully outrageous makeup leads others to suspect that you are none other than the secret love child of Lady Gaga and David Bowie. Make the Gaga-Bowie family proud with the most unusual, creative scents the perfume world has to offer.

1. CB I Hate Perfume Black March ($80). The house of CB I Hate Perfume is run by the same man behind the Demeter fragrances, a brand famous for bottling the most bizarre of smells (Glue, Crayon, Lobster, etc.) Black March smells like damp earth, so realistic that you expect to see earthworms wriggling around.

2. Nothing too sexy, or you may suddenly find yourself the office hoochie who’s sleeping with the boss and his secretary, Janice. Elegant, sophisticated scents are a good match for your neutral-but-polished makeup.

1. Chanel No. 19 ($90). No. 19 was released at the end of Coco Chanel’s life, and it is a fascinating portrait of a woman who scraped her way to the top. Its green topnotes politely suggest that you are not to be messed with, and its note of iris speaks to the luxury you’ll be living in after your next promotion.

2. Chanel Cristalle ($70). Cristalle captures the sparkle of dew on a patch of sweet-smelling grass. This is about as good as “sophisticated” can smell.

3. Stella McCartney Stella ($50). The cleanest rose in all of perfumery, no mustiness here. Stella feels professional in that hair-pulled-severely-back kind of way.

No-makeup makeup

On those days when your makeup routine consists of Chapstick, a strong perfume can feel too loud or overdramatic. Fresh, clean fragrances work well with the natural look.

1. Fresh Sugar ($75). I love this one. With notes of sugar and lemon, Sugar smells like the lemonade booth that you ran during the summer as a kid. I frequently have to remind myself not to drink this.

2. Chanel 28 La Pausa ($200). The most delicate, stunning iris scent I’ve ever encountered. Liquid sunshine on a cold morning. If the $200 price tag doesn’t appeal to you, Prada Infusion d’Iris ($56) is a more powdery alternative.

3. Marc Jacobs Rain ($65). As refreshing as a sudden summer rainstorm, Rain is the last word in “clean” fragrances. It even captures a bit of the melancholy of rainy weather.

[Source:makeupandbeautyblog.com]

View the original article here

Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-89394682323373651392011-03-06T15:38:00.000-08:002011-03-06T15:38:00.514-08:00Selecting a Women’s Discount Fragrance for a Job Interview<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 310px; height: 209px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3owa7kPLNT8WstvfDOA2HQsbsrX18dYwnx4GwLvG45YfxqLL7J8gKbfr4SmxlzhFPjprowWfUvtJRYmOa3vfNvx9uazNY7TqzyvomEBsaZLag2qhyWvlAeN4gm6npf8tJY5Jh4QDlhkhx/s400/job+interview.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572284339548400338" />

Today’s economy has made job hunting even more stressful than in the past. Selecting the right women’s discount fragrance to wear for a job interview can certainly help give a potential employer the right first impression. Since you will definitely spend some time thinking about what to wear for a job interview, it makes sense to give some thought to what discount women’s fragrance will complement your look and the office environment to which you are going After all, employers are looking at the overall package. Here are some tips you can use to help select the perfect women’s discount fragrance to wear to a job interview.

First, it is important to consider that likes and dislikes, especially for scents, are extremely subjective. What strongly appeals to you might not to another. With that in mind, it is important that the women’s discount fragrance you select for a job interview should not be overbearing. Spritz your scent on lightly. Often interviews are held in small, closed offices. You do not want your fragrance to be too strong. Keep this in mind when you apply your women’s discount fragrance as well. You may want to apply a little less than usual. Or try spraying your discount women’s fragrance into the air; then, simply walk through the mist once to lightly apply your fragrance.

A key word in preparing for any job interview is “conservative”. It is always wise to dress conservatively for an interview. Likewise, you should avoid overly sensual, sexy women’s discount fragrances. These scents may subconsciously send the wrong message. Classic women’s discount fragrances make excellent choices for a job interview. Consider a classic, conservative perfume such as Chanel Number 5. Also, avoid women’s discount fragrances that might be considered too faddish or trendy. The newest celebrity women’s discount fragrance may not be the right choice.

While classic women’s discount fragrances are sure bets to wear for a job interview, it is also crucial that you wear something you like and that you feel smells good on you. It is hard to project an image of confidence during an interview when you do not really like some aspect of your personal presentation. Pick a fragrance that is conservative but appeals to your sense of style. If you are sporty, a scent like Dolce & Gabanna’s Light Blue may be perfect. If you are an executive, a bolder, more distinctive scent may work. Try Realities by Liz Claiborne. Wearing a women’s discount fragrance you like will lift yours spirits and make you project a much more confident, self-assured image.

It takes great time and thought to prepare for a job interview. While you are likely paying a lot of attention to your clothing and make up, make sure you also consider what women’s discount fragrance you’ll wear to a job interview. Avoid women’s discount fragrances that seem to strong, too sensual or too trendy while selecting a women’s discount fragrance that you like and that makes you feel good about yourself.

[Source: bigdiscountfragrances.com]

View the original article here

Bobbyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032475718157360687noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2907956602418794124.post-24625376015423118892011-02-27T15:38:00.000-08:002011-02-27T15:38:00.478-08:00Perfume Family<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 208px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMKkLVqrQjNnAACjhVUoBe35Z6ET7keZNDGvQt8mLwbm5GyS1QVsQiC2xsxcri2Lzbj5KCDsxYnJrzUrKpXVzawayBfhUbK0BGB5kD76AVclSirxFn0fSkn0LXpMuJyi0y8BlXv1aNWCG2/s400/perfumes.jpg" border="0" alt="perfume family"id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5572281460473426962" />
Did you know that perfume can be categorized according to their fragrance family?
